Annual Student Art Showcase

Call for Entry

 
The Annual Student Art Showcase is open to all Goucher College Students who have taken studio art classes during the 2020-2021 academic year. The work is juried by the art department faculty and the Curator, and this year will be organized into a digital exhibition displayed here. Three monetary awards will be given in the following amounts: 1st-$300, 2nd-$200 and 3rd-$100.  Amelia Szpiech, the Owner and Director of Springsteen Gallery in Baltimore, MD, will be choosing the award winners.  
 
Conditions of Exhibition:
  • These are strange / different times, we are asking you to send up to 5 lo-res images
      --LO-RES is 72dpi and 1200px on the longest side
    for consideration.  Those of you who have work SELECTED for the Showcase will THEN be asked to send high-quality images.
    --
    HI-RES is 300dpi and 3000pixels on the longest side
  • All mediums will be considered, please use dropbox or box link for videos, please take good, clear photographs of your work against a neutral or outdoor background
  • Use photoshop or editing software to crop out anything you don’t want in the image
  • Provide a List of image information (Artist Name, Title, Medium, Dimensions, Year, and price if it is for sale)
  • Please write a short artist statement or project statement about the final, selected works to appear on the website alongside the images.
 
Dates to Remember:
All work should be submitted by May 1st

All artists will be notified of selected works by May 5th
 
 
 *May 15th 2021 Show will go live online (link will be sent out) and Awards announced
 *Alex will follow up with award winners to get payment information

Instructions and Guidelines

 
Registration Process:

  1. Review works with your faculty member or Curator (alex.ebstein at goucher.edu), discuss important issues including quality of the documentation image, how to write about the work in a brief project or artist statement
 
  1. Complete an information list to describe the works you are submitting – make sure list corresponds to the way you’ve labeled your files (ie: Ebstein_1_vaguespace.jpg)
